The education zones

The sub-département level for implementation and coordination of the policy of the Académie, without creating a new administrative entity, the sixteen education zones, key forums for reflection and innovation, must involve all categories of staff in their work in order to contribute to coordinated preparation of decisions.

Placed under the supervision of the Chief Inspector (IA-DSDEN) of their département, the education zones are coordinated by the Principal of a secondary school or the director of a CIO (Information and Guidance Centre).

Co-ordination within the Académie is ensured by an officer attached to the Rector's office. They are organised into committees that most often work on issues of integration, guidance, links between levels, at-risk students, skills evaluation, and prevention of violence in schools.

In addition, major work to prepare the range of study programmes, languages and options began two years ago. The secondary school inspectorate has two to three representatives in each education zone. The Ministry of Education primary school inspectors are invited to plenary meetings of the zones and to the sessions of certain committees, notably concerning primary school-collège liaison. Finally, some 15 representatives (Integration, DAFIP, TICE, CRDP, DAAC, CPE, some subject representatives, etc.) participate in various capacities. Connections are also established with priority education networks in the same geographical area. The education zones also provide the framework for activities suggested by officials of the Académie, in particular by the Inspectorate. Aside from the committee work, the education zones organise zone education councils which facilitate the exchange of ideas between different categories of personnel (inspectorate, management and supervisory staff, teachers) regarding skills evaluation, guidance, and links between levels.

The distribution of educational institutions in the zone is available on the intranet, on the "Etablissement" site, and on the public site of the Académie : www.ac-aix-marseille.fr To reach it from the home page of the intranet or the "Etablissement" site, click on the CAP button, then on Publications > Catalogues et listes.

Starting from the public site of the Académie, the link to Les Analyses et données statistiques (CAP) is found in the context menu (on the left) of some pages. The route is then the same as indicated above.
